Cat uses the toilet and toilet paper
*scratch scratch* Why won't this porcelain move!? *sigh* Guess I'll have to use this flimsy paper...

Top Eleven Motherfuckers You Would Raise From The Dead & Give Superhuman Powers to (Blog Entry by choggie)
Note: Speaking of Samuel Clemens, writing that last comment reminded me of him. I was about to write "all seem very obvious" there at the end, but then I remembered Mark Twain's words:

"Substitute 'damn' every time you're inclined to write 'very'; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be."

Top Eleven Motherfuckers You Would Raise From The Dead & Give Superhuman Powers to (Blog Entry by choggie)
I've always been a fan of Albert Einstein, personally. He would be awarded the power to make anything take forever to happen, happen in the blink of an eye, or any length in between. Bonus power: Grants the ability to succeed in one subject by failing at all others.

Let's bring back Arthur Conan Doyle as well. He would not actually have any super powers, but everything he did would seem impossible until he explained it, after which it would all seem obvious.

Chris Matthews Battles Full-On PUMA Inanity
Are you saddened that your Hillary Clinton did not succeed in the Democratic primary? Are you surprised by the fact that not everyone agrees with you? Angry that the political process is not completely inaccessible to people that aren't already power players in Washington?

Then join PUMA, and vote Republican in 2008.

Because it's easier to change your vote than realize the truth. Besides, real Americans never admit fault over anything. Ever.

U.S caught lying about Iran (1.30 mins)
Of course we realize this. But as the government has indicated many times in the past, the voices of ordinary Americans play no part in political decision making, even in large groups. So it's kind of a moot point.

Zero Punctuation Review: Soul Caliber IV
I realize late August is not exactly a gold mine when it comes to new games, but this was awful. He could have summed up this review in one sentence: "I don't get fighting games." This would have been much more enlightening than Yahtzee's treatise on how the fighting genre isn't the same as other genres of game he's played.

In fact, I would have much more respect for this review if it were limited to the above sentence. That way, instead of being a pointless diatribe, it would have been an oblique Tenacious D reference. Next review! Next review! NEXT

Office Chair Stunt Goes Horribly Right
Note to self -- Before going anywhere in an office chair at high speed, swap the cheap plastic casters for some metal!

Looks dead, unfortunately -- I don't have the star power to mark it though.

In reply to this comment by SDGundamX:
For someone who apparently loves sarcasm, you don't seem to understand it very well. Why the downvote on the comment, chief?

(Referring to this comment)

If that comment offended you in some way (I can't imagine how), I apologize.

Under ordinary circumstances, I'm certainly going to downvote a comment that promotes voting without watching the video for whatever reasons. While this should not include sarcastic reasons, sarcasm doesn't always translate over text, and I just flat out missed it this time. I'm going to blame an annoyed state of mind brought on by watching too many political videos, but in reality, I just dropped the ball on this one. My apologies for misunderstanding.

Al Franken vs. Ann Coulter: Caught in the lie
On the one hand, it's nice to see Al Franken attack the credibility of Republican sources. While it wasn't quite relevant to the discussion at hand, it's the kind of slam that needs to brought up repeatedly until those who perpetuate fear and lies are laughed off the airwaves.

On the other hand, Al Franken has caused me to do something I have avoided for over half a decade, which is listen to Ann Coulter.

Damn him.

Pornography Myths (Femme Talk Post)
This is comment 189. So sad... This thread came so close to satisfaction, but got all excited and shot its wad too early. Now where have I seen that before?

Obama and McCain: What do we do about evil?
>> ^gwiz665:
Evil does not exist. Good does not exist either.

Actions can have relative properties, which can be evil or good, but these properties are all relative to every single individual. Evil and Good are absolutes, absolutes like these do not exist. Absolutes are for simple minds.

>> ^Xax:
So Hitler wasn't evil? Child rape isn't evil? I don't see any room for relativism there.

Someone who truly believes in the superiority of the Aryan race likely sees Hitler as a hero. Likewise, someone who believes in the absolute authority of elders or someone who believes all people must fend for themselves regardless of circumstance may not think child rape is inherently evil. These viewpoints are not dominant right now, but they surely exist.

Besides, even taking a more mainstream view of morality doesn't guarantee absolute good or evil. It's possible that Hitler's holocaust killed someone that would have been even worse before they could come into their power. It's possible that someone who rapes a child gets prosecuted and incarcerated for it, making it impossible to develop into the mass murderer hiding within them only a few months down the road. These are long shots, but you cited a couple of pretty extreme cases.

People and societies seem to settle into a set of "correct" values, so we all have something to work from. Once we decide our values are absolute, however, we cut ourselves off from those people holding opposing viewpoints.
